PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid coating apparatus and an ink jet recording apparatus which can surely prevent a part of a treating liquid scraped with a blade from wet spreading in the width direction of the blade to be coated more thickly in both the end parts than the central part of a base material and go around the back surface of the base material, even if a coating liquid is quickly applied, and also have not bad influences on a coating accuracy, etc. due to a part equipped therefor. SOLUTION: The upper peripheral surface of a rotating gravure roller 38 is contacted with a middle transcription body 12 to be continuously transported, a lower part of the gravure roller 38 is dipped in the treating liquid 108 in a liquid receiving pan 40, also a residual treating liquid of the treating liquid 108 adhered to the peripheral surface of the gravure roller 38 is scraped to be a determined coating amount with a first blade 110 and thereafter is transcription coated on the middle transcription body 12, wherein the gravure roller 38 is structured with a coating part 38A contacting with the first blade 110 and a small-diameter part 38B, which is formed in both sides of the coating part 38A and has a smaller diameter than the diameter of the coating part 38A, and a second blade 112 is contacted with the peripheral surface of the small-diameter part 38B.
