The stack has two individual fuel cells e.g. low temperature-fuel cells, with bipolar arrangement having a bipolar plate arranged between an anode and a cathode. A continuous channel (5) is provided in a stack direction and formed by appropriate openings in the cells. A pin (4) is arranged in the channel and has contact strips (4a, 4b) at an upper surface of the pin. The strips are made of an electrically conducting material and arranged in the stack direction. Connecting pieces (6a, 6b) are provided for contacting of the bipolar plate and/or an electrode and with the contact strips. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a fuel cell stack.
