The door has a tubular reinforcement piece (2) arranged in a cavity between an inner shell (1) and an outer shell, where the door is in sheet metal shell construction. The piece extends in longitudinal direction of the door. The reinforcement piece is galvanized and is made of high-strength steel by a high internal pressure procedure. The piece follows contour of the outer shell, and is visible from outside of the door. An end region of the piece includes a hole that is used for bolting the piece with the inner shell. The piece is arranged tubularly and exhibits a closed profile. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a vehicle door.
