The passenger safety device (10) has a side airbag (12) which is extended between a vehicle side wall (14) and a passenger (16) in the inflated state. The section of the side airbag has two side units and an insertion part (30), where the side units are turned towards the passenger or the vehicle side wall in the inflated state. The insertion part lies between opposite peripheral edges of the side units. The insertion part is fixed at the side units. The insertion part has different amplitude ranges in different direction.
