<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, by which the reduction reaction of nitrogen oxide by using ammonia as a reductant and the removal of surplus ammonia, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons can be performed by a single catalyst in an oxygen-excess atmosphere, and to provide a method for cleaning exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxide and oxidizing/removing carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the presence of ammonia in the oxygen-excess atmosphere, is obtained by depositing at least one metal selected from iridium and rhodium, and palladium of 0.005-0.025 mass% of a carrier on the carrier which is based on zirconium oxide and contains iron and tungsten. The method for cleaning exhaust gas comprises the steps of: adding the ammonia to the exhaust gas; and bringing the ammonia-added exhaust gas into contact with the catalyst to remove the nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas and oxidize/remove the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
