<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing unit capable of keeping an amount of developer in a developer conveyance path appropriate, an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: A control part that is a control means controls a toner supply controller and/or a toner discharge means based on the detection result by developer detection sensors 97 and 98 that are developer amount detection means for detecting the amount of the developer in the developer conveyance path.
