PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure moisture content and coating amount of a sample where a coating layer is disposed on a sheet like substrate. SOLUTION: In the method of measuring the moisture content and coating amount of a measuring object sample using a micro wave resonator, the resonance frequency and resonance peak level of a reference sample whose moisture content and coating amount are known are measured, the coefficients K<SB>1</SB>and K<SB>2</SB>in characteristic expressions aboutΔV<SB>w</SB>(amount of water increased by coating) andΔV<SB>c</SB>(amount of coating solid component in coating layer) (1)Δf = K<SB>1</SB>[(ε'<SB>w</SB>-1)ΔV<SB>w</SB>+ (ε'<SB>c</SB>-1)ΔV<SB>c</SB>] and (2)ΔW = K<SB>2</SB>(ε''<SB>w</SB>×ΔV<SB>w</SB>+ε''<SB>c</SB>×ΔV<SB>c</SB>) are determined, the resonance frequency and resonance peak level of the measuring object sample whose moisture content and coating amount are unknown are measured, and thenΔV<SB>w</SB>andΔV<SB>c</SB>of the measuring object sample are calculated by coalition of the expressions. Here,Δf = f<SB>b</SB>-f<SB>s</SB>, f<SB>b</SB>: resonance frequency of sheet-like substrate, f<SB>s</SB>: resonance frequency of sample having coating layer,ΔW = P<SB>b</SB>-P<SB>s</SB>, P<SB>b</SB>: resonance peak level of sheet-like substrate, P<SB>s</SB>: resonance peak level of sample having coating layer,ε'<SB>w</SB>andε'<SB>c</SB>: dielectric constant of water and coating solid component, andε''<SB>w</SB>andε''<SB>c</SB>: dielectric loss rate of water and coating solid component.
