Device for determining an analyte using two specific binding pairs (BP1, BP2) comprises, in or on a material allowing liquid transport between zones, a sample application zone (Z1), a detection zone (Z2) that is located downstream of Z1 and contains partner 1 of BP1 immobilized in such a way that it can bind to partner 2 of BP1, which is not the analyte, and a third zone (Z3) that is located upstream of Z2 and contains a labeled partner 1 of BP2 impregnated on a material in liquid-releasable form in such a way that it can bind to partner 2 of BP2, which is not the analyte. An independent claim is also included for a kit comprising a device as above and partner 2 of BP1 and/or partner 2 of BP2.
