PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet size detection device capable of surely detecting respective sizes without reducing kinds of detectable sheet sizes and capable of relaxing required accuracy of a user operation. SOLUTION: In the sheet size detection device, the width of a protruding part of a recessed and protruding pattern of a lever 1 interlocking with a side fence is narrowed so that pressing of a push switch E in a specific detection pattern which is caused by position displacement of the side fence is surely prevented from being generated. Complement by a pattern complementing means 56 is conducted to prevent pressing missing of the push switch E by the recessed and protruding pattern of the lever 1 in another detecting pattern which occurs as a side effect. Although a complement plate 56b is set at a waiting position indicated with a dashed line by an energizing force, a protrusion 58 rotates the complement plate 56b by movement of the lever 2 interlocking with an end fence and a distal end part is set at a position to press the push switch E only when required.
