PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer actuator of unimorph structure where linear movement is taken out with a simple structure. SOLUTION: The actuator body 11 of a polymer actuator 10 forms a unimorph structure having a polymer layer 20 where an insulating layer 21 is sandwiched by conductive layers 22 and 23, and a supporting layer 30 bonded to the polymer layer 20. A force is applied between the ends 13 and 14 of the actuator body 11 in the attracting direction by means of a spring 12. When the actuator body 11 is warped by turning power on, the distance between the ends 13 and 14 of the actuator body 11 changes. In other words, warpage of the actuator body 11 is taken out as variation in distance between the ends 13 and 14, i.e. the linear movement. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
