PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very thin high-magnification zoom lens, which has a sufficiently wide imaging angle in a wide angle edge and high optical performance over the whole zoom area and is suitable to an imaging device using a solid-state image sensor such as a digital still camera and a digital video camera, and to provide an imaging device using the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens 1 includes a plurality of lens groups including at least a first lens group GR1 having a positive refraction power fixed in magnification, a second lens group GR2 having a negative refraction power shifting to the image side in magnification from the wide angle edge to the telephotograph edge, and a third lens group GR3 having a fixed positive refraction power fixed in magnification sequentially from the object side. The first lens group is constructed by arranging a single lens G12 having a negative refraction power, a prism P1 having a reflection face bending an optical path at 90°, and at least one or more single lenses G13 having a positive refraction power sequentially from the object side.
