Use of a latent acid, which is convertible by contact with water into an acid with a pK aof less than 2, in a non-aqueous composition to improve the adhesion on a substrate to be sealed or bonded, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) bonding or sealing the substrate, comprising either (a) providing an adhesion improving composition containing the latent acid dissolved in an organic solvent, (b) applying the composition on a substrate (A), (c) drying or wiping the composition, (d) applying an adhesive or sealant on the dried or wiped composition, (e) contacting the adhesive or sealant with the substrate (B), or (b1) applying the composition on a substrate (A), (c1) drying or wiping the composition, (d1) applying an adhesive or sealant on the substrate (B), (e1) contacting the adhesive or sealant with the dried or wiped composition, or (b2) applying the composition on a substrate (A), (c2) drying or wiping the composition and (d2) applying an adhesive or sealant between the surfaces of the substrate (A) and (B), where the substrate (B) contains the same or different material such as the substrate (A), or the substrate (A) and substrate (B) form a piece; (2) a bonded or sealed article, which is obtained by the above process; (3) a pretreatment agent comprising at least the latent acid, at least an organic solvent and at least an additive comprising dye, luminescence indicator, bonding agent, preferably titanate and silane, or surfactant and/or at least a binder; and (4) a moisture hardener, plastically deformable adhesive or sealant at room temperature, comprising at least a trialkylsilylsulfonate, preferably trimethylsilyl-benzene sulfonate (preferred), trimethylsilyl-methane sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-trifluoromethane sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-vinyl sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-dodecyl sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-p-toluene sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-dodecylbenzene sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-1-naphthalene sulfonate, trimethylsilyl-dinonylnaphthalene sulfonate, bis(trimethylsilyl)-dinonylnaphthalene disulfonate, triethylsilylmethane sulfonate or tert-butyldimethylsilyl-benzene sulfonate, and at least a reactive polymer, preferably an isocyanate group and/or alkoxy silane group exhibiting polyurethane polymer.
|
