PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of genetic test of viable bacteria, which has a high selectivity of the viable bacteria. SOLUTION: The method of the genetic test of the viable bacteria includes the step of preparing a sample collected from a culture system obtained by culturing the viable bacteria for a prescribed time, and a control sample collected from a control culture system obtained by applying a treatment for stopping or inhibiting the proliferation of the viable bacteria at the start of the culture of the viable bacteria in the sample, carrying out reverse transcription PCR to each RNA to be amplified of them, and detecting the presence or absence of the viable bacteria based on information on the amount of the amplification product produced.
