PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate original having a barrier layer and a mask layer (mask forming layer) favorably adhered, and to provide a printing plate formed by using the original. SOLUTION: The printing plate original includes a photosensitive layer, a barrier layer formed on the photosensitive layer, and a mask forming layer formed on the barrier layer and removable by irradiation with an IR laser beam, wherein in the binders included in the barrier layer and in the mask forming layer, not less than 50 mass% of each binder is the same kind of binder.
