PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor the performance of a server application, to determine a cause of a problem when the occurrence of the problem is detected, and to carry out recovery from the problem. SOLUTION: This monitoring system comprising a server monitoring device 100 and a measurement agent device 120 makes the measurement agent device 120 regularly monitor the processing performance of the server application 151. When a problem is detected, the server monitoring device 100 determines a cause by using a result of the related monitoring, and instructs a server resource management device 140 to change the allocation of resources and the like to carry out recovery from the problem.
