The invention relates to the use of mixtures based on a platinum complex or a platinum compound in a combination with a) FeO/Fe2O3; b) cerium (IV) oxide and/or hydroxide; c) a combination of cerium (IV) oxide and/or hydroxide and titanium oxide; or d) constituent c) in a combination with constituent a) as an additive enhancing the arc-tracking and arc-erosion resistance properties in the manufacture of a silicon elastomer, either by crosslinking at room temperature or with the heat from polyaddition reactions in the presence of a platinum catalyst, or by crosslinking at high temperature by the action of an organic peroxide or peroxides. Also disclosed are articles made of silicon elastomer obtained by said manufacture process.
