LIGHT AMPLIFIER AND PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK SYSTEM USING IT

An optical amplifier for increasing a transmission range through optical amplification and a passive optical network system using the same are provided to adopt an optical splitter of high branch ratio by amplifying the optical signal. An OLT(Optical Line Termination)(30) is connected to the backbone network of a central office such as a telephone office(20), transmits downward light source generated in the telephone office and receives upward light source generated in the ONT(50). An optical fiber(10) receives and transmits optical source by connecting the OLT and the optical splitter(40). The optical splitter divides one optical source into a plurality of optical sources. An optical amplifier(60) is installed between the OLT and the optical splitter of the passive optical network system.
