The illumination system has a semiconductor light source arranged on a flexible printed circuit board (1) and electrically connected to it. A cooling body with a collecting optic fixed on carrier elements for mounting in the illumination system. The collecting optic is arranged with the carrier element, in a predetermined position and alignment, in the illumination system. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a flexible printed circuit board with a semiconductor source of light.
