<p>A honeycomb structure that at regeneration treatment, avoids destruction by fire of spacing retention material, and that at regeneration treatment, avoids cracking in the honeycomb fired body, bonding agent layer and seal material layer. The honeycomb structure is characterized by having a ceramic block composed of multiple columnar honeycomb fired bodies each having a multiplicity of cells aligned parallelly in the longitudinal direction with a cell wall interposed therebetween, bonding agent layers joining side faces of the honeycomb fired bodies and spacing retention material disposed between side faces of the honeycomb fired bodies, and having a seal material layer superimposed on the peripheral surface of the ceramic block, which spacing retention material consists of a noncombustible material of 0.001 to 0.07 GPa Young's modulus.</p> |
