A strand jewellery article which keeps ornamental components separated using keepers (30, 40) is disclosed. The strand jewellery article has a strand (60) having two ends, connector components attached to either end of the strand (60) that join to secure the article, at least two ornamental components (70), at least one keeper (30, 40) and at least one stop member (71, 76). Two types of stop members are disclosed. One has a threaded outer surface (72) the other (76) has a smooth outer surface that has an outside diameter smaller than the threaded stop member (71). The stop members (71, 76) are fixedly attached to the strand (60). Two types of keepers are disclosed. One keeper type (30) has a threaded bore (34) that will interact only with a threaded stop member (71). The threaded keeper type (30) may pass over either stop member type (71, 76), but in the case of the threaded stop member (71) only by rotating them in relation to each other so that the threads (34, 72) engage. The second keeper type (40) is in the form of two hinged sections that enclose the stop member (71, 76). Ornamental components (70) may slip over either stop member types (71, 76) while there are no keepers (30, 40) associated with them. The outside diameter of either keeper member (30, 40) types is larger than the bore (78) diameter of the ornamental components (70) so they are unable to pass thus preventing the ornamental components (70) bunching up at the bottom of the strand (60).
