A system for supporting concrete or other settable material during the construction of a foundation raft or other low level beam comprises a shell 40. The shell 40 has a substantially vertical support section 43 and a cavity section forming a cavity 50. The support section 43 has a first side 61 against which settable material rests during formation of the raft or beam and a second side opposite the first side. A plurality of support ties 49 extend from the cavity section to adjacent the first side of the support section 43 for, in use, retaining at least the support section 43 in the desired position during curing of the settable material. Means 55 for connecting each support tie 49 to the support section 43 are provided. The cavity section may provide a support for a blockwork wall 71 once the concrete or other settable material has set. The shell may be formed as a two part moulding, having an upper part 41 and a lower part 42. |
