A vehicle restraining fence 100 for a building is configured for restraining vehicles incident in a direction substantially transverse thereto. The fence is particularly suitable for use as a perimeter vehicle restraining fence for a car park. The fence comprises an impact wire rope 110 positioned between anchorages on the building such as to transmit energy thereto in the event of a vehicle impacting the fence. The fence further comprises one or more posts (132, Fig 5) located along the length of the fence and coupled to the impact wire rope. The one or more posts are deflectable in the event of an impact so as to absorb impact energy. The fence further comprises a fence section 120 and upper and lower supports 114, 118 for supporting the fence section about the impact wire rope. A car park using the vehicle restraining fence is also disclosed. |
