PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate user's dissatisfaction that original data can not be taken out when a code image in a document can not be decoded.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a code image detecting means for determining whether or not a code image is included within document image data; a code image region determining means for determining a region of the code image within the document image data; a code image decoding means for decoding the code image to extract electronic data; and a code image deleting means for deleting the code image from the document image data. When the code image detected by the code image detecting means can not be decoded by the code image decoding means, the code image is deleted from the document image data by the code image deleting means.
