An apparatus and a method for activating a TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor and registering a tire pressure sensor ID are provided to activate various kinds of TMPS sensors by using only one unit and to register various kinds of TMPS sensors different from each other according to the car manufacturers. An apparatus for activating a tire pressure monitoring system sensor and registering a tire pressure sensor ID comprises an LF signal transmitter signal intensity regulator(150) to transmit an activated signal, an RF signal receiver(130) to receive TMPS sensor information from the activated TMPS sensor, a display device(110), a memory device(140), a key input device(120), a computer connection device(100), a vehicle communication device(180), a cable(190), a connector(200), a microprocessor capable of controlling the components to selectively activate only desired TMS sensor, and a power supply device(160).
