[Also in Division C3] Sulphuric acid half-esters of tragacanth and their physiologically compatible salts (see Div. C3) have a marked pepsin-inhibiting effect and are useful for the treatment of stomach ulcers and gastritis. Unit dosages of from 0.1 to 5g of the active compounds may be incorporated in tablets, dragees, powders, syrups or juices with conventional excipients. The sodium salt of the half-esters has a sulphur content of 13-18% (by weight) and a sodium content of 9.5-13.5%. The following salts are mentioned: ammonium, mono-, di- or triethanolamine; lithium, sodium, potassium; magnesium, calcium, barium; aluminium and bismuth. |
