The invention relates to an operating method for an air classifier, according to which a product to be classified (P) is fed between a guide cage (4) and a classifier wheel (3) that is surrounded by said cage via a product supply conduit (1) and the product to be classified (P) is fed together with a fluid stream (F) in a particle/fluid suspension to the inner face of the guide cage (4) facing towards the classifier wheel (3). Alternatively, the invention relates to an operating method for an air classifier, according to which a product to be classified (P) is supplied between a guide cage (4) and a classifier wheel (3) that is surrounded by said cage via a product supply conduit (1) and another fluid (Z) acting as an additional operating medium is conducted to the outer face of the guide cage (4) facing away from the classifier wheel (3) via an operating medium supply conduit (2). The invention further relates to an air classifier (W) comprising a product supply conduit (1) for supplying a product to be classified between a guide cage (4) and a classifier wheel (3) that is surrounded by said cage, the product supply conduit (1) being designed to feed the product to be classified (P) together with a fluid stream (F) in a particle/fluid suspension to the inner face of the guide cage (4) facing the classifier wheel (3).
