摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-density compatible optical pickup device capable of realizing optimal aberration correction by disposing an easily seen position aligning mark in the liquid crystal optical element of high transmittance. <P>SOLUTION: The device has a laser light source, an objective lens for converging a laser light emitted from the laser light source on an optical disk, and a liquid crystal optical element disposed in an optical path between the laser light source and the objective lens to hold a liquid crystal layer between transparent substrates via a framelike seal. On the surfaces of the transparent substrates 101 and 102 of the liquid crystal optical element 1, transparent electrodes 105 and 106 for modulating a phase of a liquid crystal layer 104, and a plurality of position aligning marks 107 and 108 made of photosensitive resins are formed.
