The invention relates to a sintered product made from a starting charge containing 5 to 50% zircon and having the following chemical composition, in percentages by weight on the basis of the oxides and for a total of more than 100%: silica and zirconia, the concentration of zirconia (ZrO₂) being equal to at least 64%; at least 0.2% of a dopant selected from among V₂O₅, Nb₂O₅, Ta₂O₅ and mixtures thereof; optionally a stabiliser selected from among Y₂O₃, MgO, CaO, CeO₂ and mixtures thereof, at a concentration less than or equal to 6%; and "other oxides" at a concentration less than or equal to 6.7%.
