PURPOSE: A hybrid MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) apparatus and a method thereof are provided to execute a accurate inspection for a patient by improving a signal reception sensitivity. CONSTITUTION: A patient is located in parallel to the longitudinal axis(14) of a cylindrical housing(12) in a cylindrical housing. An electromagnetic receiver coil system(16) and an electromagnetic imaging gradient coil system(18) are located in the surrounding of the cylindrical housing. The electromagnetic receiver coil system and the electromagnetic imaging gradient coil system are aligned with the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical housing. The N pole and S pole of a main magnet are located in the surrounding of the cylindrical housing. The main magnet forms a magnetic field which is vertical to the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical housing.
