1314363 Electro-phoretically coating with resin VIANOVA KUNSTHARZ AG 27 July 1970 [29 July 1969] 36218/70 Heading C7B [Also in Division C3 ] Metal objects connected as anode are electrophoretically coated using as the coating composition an aqueous solution of a neutralized copolymer, the copolymer being prepared by simultaneously condensing and copolymerising a mixture of (a) 5-40 per cent by weight of a water-soluble or water-insoluble, wholly or partially etherified amino-plast resin, (b) 5-30 per cent by weight of an α 1 #-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or a functional derivative thereof having at least one free carboxy group and (c) 30-90 per cent by weight of a copolymerisable ethylenically unsaturated monomer having no free carboxy groups. The copolymer is neutralisedwith an inorganic or organic base, e.g. ammonia or diisopropanolamine. The coating composition may also contain a pigment, e.g. titanium dioxide. In Examples coating is effected on zinc phosphated steel. The coating may be stoved. |
