<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating microscope that can assuredly protect a microscope section when the microscope section is stored. <P>SOLUTION: An operating microscope 10 comprises a microscope section 16 that can observe a surgical site and a microscope supporting structure 14 that supports the microscope section 16 to make it move three-dimensionally. The supporting structure 14 has a moving area during use for moving the microscope section 16 when the surgical site is being observed and a moving area during storage that is a different area from the moving area during use and where the microscope section 16 can move when stored.
