The machine has a replaceable component i.e. rotating shaft (1), including a safety feature with a magnetic code. An automatic safety feature detecting unit (5) is installed in the device such that the detecting unit detects the magnetic code in an installed condition of the component. The component is moved, and the detecting unit detects the magnetic code, during operation of the device. The detecting unit has a magnetic code scanner and readers that detect the magnetic code in a space-resolved manner. The safety feature has a highly-coercive layer made of plastic or non-magnetic material. An independent claim is also included for a system for checking availability of a device for detecting a safety feature.
