A splaying and folding device is for the upper ends of filled sacks which are open at the top. The sacks are made from paper, plastics. The device ensures direct insertion of the folded sack ed edges into a machine effecting a closure such as a sewing or a welding machine. The splaying device includes splaying links attached to a fixed frame which can be made to splay in opposite directions parallel to the direction of the sack conveyor movement. The splaying links are made as couplings of a four link or multiple link chain positioned and driven in such a way that they carry out the splaying movement first and then in the same rhythm a movement in the direction of the conveyor movement and at approx. the same speed with the link chains (35, 36) and their actuating devices (41, 42) having their bearing on a common swingle (33) movable in a vertical plane containing the sack conveyor installation. |
