PURPOSE: An air-conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to control the wind direction and to minimize a rotation error of a wind direction control vein. CONSTITUTION: A main body has a top opening in the upper side an air inlet part. An air blowing port is formed at an outlet air part and arranged with being ascended and descended on the top opening while passing through. An elevating part(85) raises the outlet air part. A wind direction control vein is arranged and is rotated in the outlet air part. A wind direction control drive part rotates the wind direction control vein. A controller(410) drives the wind direction control drive part to return the wind direction control vein to an initial position when operation is shutdown.
