The method involves measuring electrical variables such as input current, input voltage and/or input power at direct current-direct current (DC-DC) converters (2a, 2b) e.g. boost converter. A semiconductor switch of the converters is synchronized. An additional bypass switch is permanently opened or closed, where the semiconductor switch is not permanently synchronized and is not permanently opened or permanently closed. One of the converters at highest input voltage is deactivated. An operating point of the deactivated converter is adjusted over an intermediate circuit voltage (Uzwk).
