<p>Strong permanent glass fibre/elastomer bonding, with improved mechanical strength, is obtained by coating the glass fibres before combination with elastomer, with an elastomeric composition contng. a resorcinol/aldehyde resin contg., 0.3-10, pref. 1-3% wt. of a combined organosilicic compound formed from a aminosilane, a silane contng. a labile H or a silane glycidyl ether, pref. gamma-aminopropyltriethoxysilane or a silane glycol derivative. The organosilicic compound canb e reacted with the elastomer to form a silane-treated rubber. The elastomer coating is applied as priming to the fibres or used to impregnate primed bundles of fibres.</p> |
