1392479 Substituted thiophene oxime carbamates ABBOTT LABORATORIES 17 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 53345/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds have the Formula I in which each of R1, R2 and R3 is independently a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-7 carbon atoms or a nitro or cyano group, R4 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or haloalkyl group each having 1-7 carbon atoms or an aryl, thiol, alkylthio, arylthio, substituted arylthio, alkylsulphonyl, arylsulphonyl, substituted arylsulphonyl or cyano group and R5 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aryl or substituted aryl group or an alkenyl group having 2-7 carbon atoms, provided that at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R6 comprises a halogen atom or a nitro or cyano group and when R3 is an alkyl group having 1-7 carbon atoms and neither R1 nor R2 is a nitro group then R5 is an aryl, substituted aryl or alkenyl group having 2-7 carbon atoms. The carbamates of Formula I are obtained by reacting 1 mole of an oxime of Formula II with 1 mole of an isocyanate of formula, R5-NCO, preferably by adding the latter to a solution of the oxime in an aprotic solvent containing a tertiary amine catalyst. The thiophene oximes of Formula II, wherein each of R1, R2 and R3 is independently hydrogen or halogen or a nitro group and R4 is an alkyl or haloalkyl group each having 1-7 carbon atoms or a cyano, alkylthio or arylthio group, with the proviso that when R4 is C 1-7 alkyl at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is NO 2 and another is a halogen, are said to be novel compounds. Examples describe the preparation of the oxime precursors (1-16) and of the carbamates of Formula I (17-38) and the use of the latter as pesticides.
