PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a submerged throw-in type emission sensor element directly thrown in a liquid to be measured before used without using an emission measuring cell or the like, and an emission photometer using it. SOLUTION: The emission photometer is constituted of the emission sensor element 10 directly thrown in the liquid to be measured and a separate main body part 20. The emission sensor element includes a cylindrical housing 14 and the ultraviolet LED 11 and phototransistor 12 fixed to the housing, and the optical axis of the ultraviolet LED 11 is turned toward the center of the cylinder of the housing. The phototransistor is provided in order to detect the light emitted from the liquid 21 to be measured and its optical axis is also turned toward the center of the cylinder of the housing. The optical axis of the ultraviolet LED 11 crosses the optical axis of the phototransistor at a right angle. The main body part has a lock-in amplifier 16 for supplying the AC component of predetermined frequency to the ultraviolet LED 11 through a current driver 17 and the application from the phototransistor is inputted to the lock-in amplifier through a non-reversal amplifier 18 and a voltage follower 19.
