Adenine is contained in vegetable and vegetable/fruit juices only at a low concentration and adenine alone has an extremely low solubility in water, which makes it impossible to fully utilize the characteristics thereof. Under these circumstances, disclosed are an adenine-containing vegetable extract, a packed drink and a hypotensive composition for oral use each containing adenine at a high concentration. The adenine-containing vegetable extract is obtained by extracting dry vegetables with 15 times by weight to 45 times by weight as much cold or hot water added thereto at 30oC to 75oC. The packed drink contains adenine in an amount of 8 ppm or more, or 0.8 ppm/1.0 Brix in the case of using Brix as an indicator.
