PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal resistance of a material for optical doping used for an optical amplifier using an organic polymer. SOLUTION: Rare earth metal salt and a carboxylic acid compound are mixed in an organic solvent and/or water. In a combination of the salt of rare earth metal and carboxylic acid compound, the rare earth metal is preferably erbium and the carboxylic acid compound is preferably fluoride or chloride of benzoic acid, or fluoride or chloride of aliphatic carboxylic acid with C2-10.
