PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound switching apparatus which allows a user to conveniently handle it by easily executing the selection of sound ES to a viewing program and the selection of multiplexed sound in a simple switching operation, and also to provide a sound switching method and a broadcast receiver. SOLUTION: The sound switching apparatus comprises: a discrimination means (63e) for discriminating the number of the sound ES included in a tuned program and the presence/absence of sound multiplex in the sound ES on the basis of acquired program information (EIT, PMT) and obtaining all the types of the sound that the program has; switching means (17, 63f) for switching all the obtained types of the sound in a circulating manner in a preset order every time a sound switching operation is performed; and display means (14, 63f) for displaying the switched type of the sound.
