PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-crystalline coating fluid solving the problem that, in polarizing films obtained from a liquid-crystalline coating fluid comprising a lyotropic liquid-crystal compound, fine crystals separate out in the films during drying to increase the haze (light scattering) value of the polarizing films, and further, the lyotropic liquid-crystal compound has a reduced degree of orientation, resulting in a reduced dichroic ratio.
SOLUTION: The liquid-crystalline coating fluid is one comprising a lyotropic liquid-crystal compound, a vinyl alcohol polymer, and a solvent, and is characterized in that the vinyl alcohol polymer is contained in an amount of 0.05 to 1.5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the lyotropic liquid-crystal compound.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
