PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a smoke detector which can interrupt the flow of smoke along an insect preventing screen and guide the smoke to an inside through the insect preventing screen by providing the insect preventing screen with projections projecting outward. SOLUTION: Interruption plates 34 are provided, projecting to the outside from the outer circumference of a porous insect preventing screen 33 with respect to the insect screen 33 covering a plurality of labyrinth walls 13 that are circumferentially provided. The interruption plates 34 function as an interruption plate to the flow of smoke along the insect preventing screen 33. Namely, the smoke caused to flow along the insect preventing screen 33 can be guided toward gaps between the labyrinth walls 13 with each other to made to flow to the inside of an optical chamber when the flow of the smoke is interrupted by the interruption plates 34.
