摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reactive-power compensating apparatus which can prevent the overvoltage of a power transmission system. <P>SOLUTION: A dynamic and reactive support system for power transmission systems has a circuit breaker for connecting a shunt-capacitor bank, comprising a metal-oxide varistor (MOV) and a shunt capacitor in parallel connection. When voltage reduction of a power transmitting system is detected, the circuit breaker is so closed as to connect the shunt capacitor with the power transmitting system. When a current is detected by checking the current present in the MOV, at least one circuit breaker is opened so as to cut off at least one shunt capacitor from the power transmission system. This cutting-off of the shunt capacitor can be made simultaneously, gradually, by each shunt capacitor, or by each group of shunt capacitors, and the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p>
