PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball valve free of increasing of the sliding resistance when a large deflection is generated in a wave washer to cause a valve element to rotate, in case wave washer is used for putting a stationary seat in tight contact with the valve element. SOLUTION: The ball valve includes the valve element 2 to rotate round a shaft 3, the stationary seat 4 whereon the valve element seats itself, and the wave washer 5 to energize the valve element in the direction of its tightly contacting with the stationary seat, wherein the wave washer is formed so that its crest part 21 and bottom part 22 constitute just two portions curving approximately sigmoidally, and a locating pin 24 is installed on a fixing member 7 for retaining the wave washer in an angle position where the diametric direction tying together the apices of the two crest parts which are convex to the valve element side, is approximately parallel with the axial direction of the shaft, and a notch 25 to fit on the locating pin 24 is provided in the wave washer 5.
