The device (11) has a fuel pump device (13) mechanically driven by an internal-combustion engine (10) and for conveying fuel from a fuel supply container (14) into an accumulator (16). A freewheel clutch (22) is provided in a drive strand (21) between the internal-combustion engine and the fuel pump device. The clutch is formed such that the clutch releases or prevents a drive of the fuel pump device depending on direction of rotation of a crankshaft of the internal-combustion engine. The clutch is formed as a pawl free-wheel or free-wheel with clamping bodies.
