PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting the deformation of a fixing film by a necessary minimum temperature detecting means. SOLUTION: A laser printer 1 includes: a cylindrical fixing film 81; a halogen lamp 82 for heating the fixing film; a motor M for intermittently applying rotating force to the fixing film; a guide member 87 (flange 87B), provided at one end of at least the fixing film, for restricting the position of the one end of the fixing film in the direction of a rotation shaft during the rotation of the fixing film; at least the one temperature sensor S1 for detecting the temperature of the end of the fixing film, provided with the guide member 87; and a determining means 110 for determining any deformation in the fixing film based on variation in the detection temperature T of the temperature sensor S1.
