PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill changer which can selectively add functions to perform a temporary retention process or a scrutiny process by only adding one bill storage/dispensation cassette. SOLUTION: The changer 10 includes a bill storage/dispensation cassette 22 having a connection opening 22a that can be detachably connected to a branching conveying part 26. When the connection opening 22a is connected to the branching conveying part 26, the bill storage/dispensation cassette 22 stores a bill fed from the branching conveying part 26 via the connection opening 22a and dispenses the bill to the branching conveying part 26 via the connection opening 22a. When the connection opening 22a of the bill storage/dispensation cassette 22 is connected to the branching conveying part 26, a control part 70c performs at least one of the temporary retention process and the scrutiny process.
