<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SmCo-based magnet having a low coercive force suitable for a magnet for a motor, and a high squareness ratio, to provide a method of manufacturing the same, and to provide a variable magnetic flux type permanent magnet motor using a permanent magnet having the above characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: A magnet wherein a coercive force is 0.5-2.5 kOe at room temperature, a squareness ratio expressed by a ratio of a remanent magnetization to magnetization in a magnetic field of 10 kOe is ≥80%, and following general expression (I) is satisfied as a permanent magnet is used. General expression (I): Sm<SB>1-x</SB>Nd<SB>x</SB>(Co<SB>1-a-b-c-d</SB>Fe<SB>a</SB>Cu<SB>b</SB>M<SB>c</SB>)<SB>z</SB>, wherein M is at least one kind selected from Ti, Zr, Hf; and, when the sum of Sm and Nd is 1, atom ratios satisfy 0<x≤0.4, 0.3<a≤0.38, 0.02≤b≤0.07, 0.01<c≤0.04 and 7.3≤z≤8.3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
