The electric drive unit has a hub drive driving a vehicle wheel (10), where the vehicle wheel has a wheel flange (16) and a rim consisting of a rim well (18) and two rim clamps (20,22). The rim clamps limit the rim well. A partial area of the hub drive is integrated in the rim well of the wheel rim of the vehicle wheel. One of the two rim clamps is connected detachably with the rim well.
